Look at your Last six-month electricity bills to identify your average monthly or annual energy consumption. 1kW of solar plant generates 1440 units annually. You can determine the size of your solar system for your home by dividing your yearly consumption by units generated per kW. For eg. Your yearly consumption is 7200 units. Hence, you’ll need a 5kW solar system for your home. (7200/1440=5).
2. Shadow-free rooftop area: To generate electricity, 1kW of solar system requires 100sqft of shadow-free rooftop area. Hence, you’ll require 500 sqft of shadow-free rooftop areas to install 5kW of the solar system.
3. Sanctioned load: The sanctioned load refers to the maximum amount of electricity that a customer can use without incurring additional charges from the electricity board. This is an important factor to consider when installing solar panels, as it ensures that the solar system is able to meet the customer's energy requirements without exceeding their sanctioned load and incurring unnecessary expenses.
4. Incentives: Depending on your location, you may be eligible for various incentives and tax credits for installing solar panels. These incentives can significantly reduce the upfront cost of the solar system, making it more affordable. Additionally, some areas offer grants or low-interest loans to encourage solar adoption.
